About Us

Who Are We?

Because the mission of East Clairemont Southern Baptist Church is helping people discover and do God's will, we feel that we have something very valuable to offer: an opportunity to personally experience the love of Jesus, regardless of background.

Our Core Values
We value God
  • We value God because in Him all things exist and we find our reason for living. (Acts 17:28)
  • Therefore we set time aside to spend with Him and His word, continually communicate with Him during the course of each day, desire to please and obey Him as well as constantly seek opportunities to share with others about Him. (Exodus 19:5; 1 Samuel 2:30; Proverbs 22:4; Matthew 6:5-9, 29:19-20; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Matthew 29:19-20)
We value the Bible
  • We value the Bible because it is God’s direct word to us. (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • Therefore we daily take time to read and study His word with the goal to incorporate it into our very being and translate it into action in our lives. (Psalm 1:19, 19:7, 37:31, 94:12; Psalm 119; 2 Timothy 2:15; James 2:14-18)
We value People
  • We value people because God values people. (John 3:16)
  • Therefore we desire to share the good news of God’s love with others, to be compassionate to the physical and emotional needs of people, and be willing to help them in any way we can. (Matthew 5:44, 19:19; John 15:12-17, 21:15-17; Acts 2:45, 4:35; Romans 1210; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-14)
We value Prayer
  • We value prayer because it is the means of personal communication that God uses to change us. (Romans 12:2)
  • Therefore we seek to equip people with training and resources to learn how to pray, and provide opportunities to pray with one another. (Psalm 46:10; Mark 6:46; Luke 6:12; John 17; Acts 2:42; 6:4; 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
We value Family
  • We aspire to value family because God designed it for our good. (Matthew 19:4-6; Deuteronomy 6:7)
  • Therefore we aspire to honor our parents; love our siblings; love our spouse; and love our children by spending time with them, caring for and disciplining them, and sharing God’s love with them. (Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16; Psalm 78:5; Proverbs 22:15; Ephesians 5:25, 6:1-4; Colossians 3:19-21; 1 Peter 3:7)
We value Obedience
  • We aspire to value obedience because it is the key to knowing God in a deeper, more personal way. (John 14:21)
  • Therefore we aspire to follow the example of Jesus to accept and to do God’s will regardless of the difficulty. (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 30:20; Jeremiah 7:23; 1 Samuel 15:22; Acts 5:29, 32; Matthew 26:39, 42: Luke 11;2; Romans 6:16, 19; Hebrews 5:9)
